The Driscoll lab investigates how the interplay between cell morphology, dynamics, and intracellular signaling governs cell function. Our lab is interdisciplinary, and researchers will use techniques ranging from high-resolution light-sheet microscopy and computational analysis to state-of-the-art molecular biology. Researchers will have the opportunity to present and publish the outcome of their work. We are a new laboratory, and in joining you will be able to help shape the culture and future of the lab. TYPICAL TASKS (These examples do not include all possible tasks and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this class.) - 80% Supports scientists in research and conduct investigations or experiments in an assigned area to aid in the solution of a research problem. Work will be computational and not performed in the wet lab. - 20% Spur new research directions in the laboratory by generating early results for new projects. Techniques could include computer graphics, machine learning, and differential geometry. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. - BS/BA with a focus in data science, engineering, computer science, mathematics or an equivalent and 1 year of related experience or combination of education and relevant research experience to equal five years. - Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and ideas to lab team members. - Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different departments or areas of expertise to achieve common objectives. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Master's degree - Experience with biology - Experience with machine learning About the Department The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota is one of six basic science departments in the Medical School.
