Description Summary The Research Systems & Services Assistant works with the Research Services team to deliver high quality research to all firm personnel. This includes non-legal research, uncomplicated legal research, document & article pulls, citation checking, and inter-library loan coordination. This role is also responsible for assisting the Research Services team with monitoring the research desk and answering requests in a timely manner. This position may also provide backup assistance to the RS&S Collection team in the form of access maintenance duties for electronic resources (usernames, passwords, seat assignment, account creation, etc.) and other tasks as assigned. Required Education & Experience 4-year college degree required. Knowledge of online resources and research. Ability & willingness to learn new research tools and procedures Ability to utilize technology, including online resources/databases and telecommunication devices and programs, as well as learn new technologies. Preferred Education & Experience Law Firm library experience 1-3 years of library experience or 3-4 years LAA experience or equivalent. Knowledge of Integrated Library System Knowledge of legal research resources Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Research & Reference Support (75%) Conduct general reference and research as assigned. Provide citation checking services. Coordinate inter-library loans, fulfill docket/court document requests, obtain articles, and run background searches. Coordinate with Research Services Manager on request ticketing system to fill requests in a timely manner. Willingness to provide coverage of the Research Services request desk outside of scheduled position hours on an ad hoc nature to cover PTO by other Research Services team members. Performs other duties as assigned. Collection Maintenance (10%) Coordinate with Collections team to provide backup coverage on access requests and issues. Training & Professional Development (5%) Attend department and Research team trainings Participate in professional development opportunities (webinars, trainings, etc.) to stay informed on industry developments and expand knowledge set. General & Administrative (5%) Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills. Work Environment & Physical Demands This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
