Neurology Minneapolis, MN, USA $17-19/hour DOQ Hourly Part Time The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has a current opening for a part-time Research Assistant to support the ALS research of Dr. Samuel Maiser being conducted at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). This position will typically work up to 20 hours per week with the option for increased hours over the summer. POSITION SUMMARY: Recruits, identifies and interviews research subjects for incorporation into research studies and may obtain informed consent. Documents and consistently maintains detailed records and research data and may enter into computer for further analysis. May administer and score psychological, intellectual, and/or other medical assessments and tests. May accurately disburse funds to study participants and accurately reconcile grant accounts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Recruits, identifies and interviews research subjects into research studies and may obtain informed consent. Effectively identify research subjects for incorporation into studies by systematically coordinating interviews, appointments, and testing. Routinely tracks and maintains contact with research subjects throughout research study Perform phlebotomy. Process blood samples and perform specimen shipping/receiving functions. Administer and score psychological, intellectual, and/or other medical assessments and tests. Documents and consistently maintains detailed records and research data and may enter into computer for further analysis. May accurately disburse funds to study participants and accurately reconcile grant accounts. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education/Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be completion of some college and six (6) months experience in a related area and/or in research. Bachelor's degree preferred. Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA): Requires interaction with a diverse population. Demonstrate working knowledge of basic personal computing. Knowledge of research methodology for working with human subjects and of general research principles. Knowledge of or exposure to psychological, medical, and/or intellectual assessments, and written test instruments. Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with research subjects, ability to adapt and be flexible, and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.
