Job ID360842 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryTemporary Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job The Center on Women, Gender and Public Policy seeks temporary research assistants (for Summer 2024) to support a research project examining the relationship between the race, ethnic, and gender identity of elected officials in Latin America and changing political agendas. We seek hard-working and self-starting individuals with fluency in Spanish, comfort working with Excel, and attention to detail. Background understanding of the Latin American context is preferred. Recent graduates encouraged to apply. 2-3 positions available. 20-35 hours per/week. The Center on Women, Gender, and Public Policy illuminates gender-based disparities through research, teaching, and public engagement. Our work is grounded in three key values: Intersectionality, Holistic Perspective, and Public Engagement. Receive training on how to research and code characteristics of individual legislators and evaluate legislative proposals for inclusion in a research data base. Research the profiles of individual legislators over time from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru and code their characteristics in an Excel spreadsheet. Read and understand proposed legislation, and code the legislation for its substantive content, in an excel spreadsheet. Work with a small research team to coordinate, cross-check, and clean the data to prepare for analysis. Possibly support quantitative analysis. Other, related tasks as needed. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Spanish fluency or very strong Spanish reading skills Comfort working with Excel Detail-oriented and organized Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the Latin American context, especially the Andean region How To Apply Applications must be submitted online.
