Your Opportunity

Stantec's Facilities and Process Engineering Practice is looking for an experienced professional to serve as a Project Manager to help direct, manage and implement our growing Facilities and Process Engineering practice. Ideally the candidate will be based in our Plymouth, Minnesota office, however option for part time or full time remote is possible for the right candidate. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Capitalize on new or existing client relationships to expand Stantec’s profile and market share in supporting business development activities and projects that focus on converting agricultural feedstocks to food, feed, chemicals, and energy. The position may also support projects in Industrial Buildings, Mining, Environmental Services, and Oil &Gas Sectors.

  • Develop and participate in the development of new project opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business. Maintain current opportunity status in Stantec’s Pipeline CRM system.

  • Develop project scope, schedule, budget, and design approach for all size projects at all stages of project delivery. Oversee multiple projects simultaneously within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Oversee and manage multiple complex projects with teams consisting of in-house professionals, designers, and engineers and strategic teaming partners and subconsultants. Monitor project health, including budget and schedule with the help of project control personnel.

  • Effectively manage multi-discipline technical staff and promote team spirit to execute projects successfully. Provide leadership in managing project-related staff performance, and mentoring personnel for overall success of project team.

  • Lead project coordination meetings with clients, internal team members and/or external consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.

  • Identify potential changes in scope/schedule/budget. These will arise in virtually any project and can be due to unforeseen developments, new regulatory developments, changes in customer’s instructions, or a variety of reasons.

  • Understand and direct work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.

  • Become a champion of Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field.

  • Complete staff resource planning for assigned projects and participate in employee recruiting where required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in stage gate /Front-End Loading (FEL) engineering for project development, including scoping approaches, initial studies, feasibility studies and project definition.

  • Experience managing large projects of high complexity with multi-disciplined engineering, and other technical disciplines is preferred.

  • Experience managing multi-disciplined teams developing detailed design drawings, specifications and supporting technical deliverables. Experience with material handling and conveyance, oil-seeds processing, renewable fuels, food and beverage, packaging and related infrastructure is desired.

  • Proven major project experience for medium to large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts in North America.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients business needs.

  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of multi-disciplinary process, mechanical, electrical and control systems, and industry standards.

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook; Oracle). Familiarity with scheduling software and 3D design tools.

  • Must demonstrate effective resource planning, results delivery, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Passion for implementing new technologies, such as 3D scanning, VR/AR, and Digital Twin, into projects

Education and Experience

Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience successfully coordinating and managing multi-disciplined engineering projects.

A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field from an accredited university is required. PE license preferred.

Professional engineering registration/certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment and NCEES record holder is desired.

Training in project management from one or more of the following: PSMJ PM Bootcamp or equivalent, PMP certification, other relevant trainings. Project Management Professional certified preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to active industrial sites, construction sites and the elements including inclement weather.
