The online 1-credit course Global Identity (OLPD 3331H/3332) is the primary area of responsibility for this position, leading the delivery of the instruction, course management and strategic visibility of this learning opportunity across the University of Minnesota system. This position also supports the delivery of additional virtual intercultural learning experiences: the 4-credit Virtual International Internship, supplemental pre-departure orientation content and other projects and initiatives. In addition, this position provides management and organization for selected study abroad programs as well as participates in larger initiatives in the education abroad field. The program assignments may include selected center based programs, university integrated programs, instructor led programs, affiliate programs, and other academic experiences abroad. This position requires an experienced education abroad professional. Salary Range: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 Responsibilities: Global Identity Course Instruction-15% -Serve as lead instructor for OLPD 3331 and OLPD 3332H during Fall, Spring and Summer terms. (40 students each term, for 3 terms) -Mentor, advise and guide students in their intercultural learning, leadership and career skills development through assessment and constructive feedback. -Consult with the Academic Director and troubleshoot any issues that present concerns regarding the instruction of the course throughout each term Online Course Management, Instructional Support, Course Development and Delivery-15% -Create and manage Global Identity master roster based on detailed student information -Create and manage Global Identity timelines and coursework deadlines for all programs based on individual start and end dates -Collaborate with Scholastic Services, program teams, instructors and students to adhere to drop/add processes and deadlines -Coordinate with Scholastic Services team to set timeline and content for communications to students and instructors -Manage the collection and posting of grades at the end of each term -Maintain and edit Global Identity course information on the Learning Abroad Center website -Design, create, and manage Canvas sites for Global Identity and Virtual International instructors -Maintain knowledge of Canvas and its use as the learning management system at the University of Minnesota -Maintain budgets and financial planning for funding the instruction and delivery of the Global Identity course -Supervise student staff and support their career skill development Instructional Support-10% -Analyze and project needs for additional Global Identity course instructors; assist in recruiting additional course instructors, based on enrollments each term. -Consult with HR to create Global Identity LOUs and facilitate keeping them on file -Track and monitor Global Identity instructor payments including drop/adds that impact stipends; communicating and collaborating with GPS HR for payroll processing -Provide training and necessary course materials and timelines to instructors; communicate updates with instructors on a regular basis -Troubleshoot and solve problems from Instructors and students Course Development-5% -Maintain a deep understanding of current intercultural theory and its application to learning experiences of 6-15 weeks in length. -Maintain knowledge of the undergraduate study abroad experience; researching new conditions, trends, etc -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of student development stages, teaching theory and online lear ing best practices -Edit and finalize syllabus with Global Identity team -Survey students and instructors; analyze data; make and implement recommendations for course improvement to the Academic Director Intercultural Learning Support, Training, Initiatives and Projects-5% -Provide supplemental intercultural learning content to support program teams' pre-departure orientation presentations -Assist and collaborate with the Academic Director on projects and initiatives that contribute to internationalization and intercultural learning goals of students, staff and faculty Program design, development, and management-20% -Oversee program design and development at assigned sites -Oversee curriculum design and development, and obtain course approval as needed -Oversee delivery of curriculum, pedagogy, and course content -Ensure student housing and student services meet all University and LAC requirements related to student care, health, and safety -Develop and implement program budgets and other financial arrangements -Develop and implement program contracts and agreements -Develop or oversee the development of official correspondence, manuals, handbooks, etc. -Provide supervision of LAC program and on-site staff Student Services-10% -Provide crisis intervention and resolution -Develop emergency and crisis management plans -Provide support and assistance with student services to adviser Program specific promotion and recruitment-5% -Oversee program specific marketing and recruitment, with support from advisor -Provide input with communications and web -Assist with or lead site visits Implement curriculum integration within University departments and units and within program offerings through the following:-5% -Serve as curriculum integration liaison to U of M colleges, academic departments, and advising offices -Work with academic departments on process of assess, match, and motivate -Help individual departments determine how to increase education abroad opportunities -Consult with departments on developing new education abroad initiatives and programs LAC and Education Abroad Leadership-10% -Collaborate with appropriate committees, academic and administrative units at the University of Minnesota, cooperating colleges and universities, as well as domestic and host country institutions and providers to explore new short-term, semester, and academic year education abroad opportunities. -Interpret and assist in the development and implementation of Learning Abroad Center administrative policies and procedures, and provide leadership in team building with regard to daily management of LAC functions, services, and programs. -Serve on university committees related to education abroad and participate in LAC and Global Programs and Strategy Alliance staff meetings and activities, as appropriate or assigned. -Promote, support, and participate in study abroad and international education efforts with university units, appropriate professional associations, in organizations or through participation on organizational boards, and to the community at large. -Disseminate research and case studies of best practices at regional,...
