SUMMARY: The Professional Responsibility Attorney is a member of the Professional Responsibility Committee and serves with a team of lawyers as in-house legal counsel to the Firm. The Committee’s work centers on legal ethics, professional responsibility and loss prevention.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Advising Firm attorneys on conflict issues and facilitating the resolution of conflicts of interests2.Counseling Firm attorneys on a wide variety of ethical and professional issues3.Reviewing and approving new Firm business to ensure accuracy and adherence with Firm policies and procedures4.Performing due diligence for all legal and lateral hires5.Conducting ethics orientation for lateral and new attorneys6.Reviewing and developing policies and processes relating to legal ethics and loss prevention7.Providing training on legal ethics, loss prevention and compliance with Firm policies8.Monitoring ethics opinions, the Rules of Professional Conduct and laws and other regulations governing the Firm and its lawyers 9.Reviewing the Firm’s marketing materials for ethics compliance10.Drafting and reviewing conflicts waivers, engagement letters and other client communications and documents to ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards11.Reviewing, and providing advice on, outside counsel guidelines12.Advising lawyers on issues relating to bar admission, unauthorized practice of law, state registration requirements and continuing legal education compliance13.Researching and analyzing legal malpractice issues and potential claims14.Serving as a liaison with the Firm’s professional liability carrier15.Work with the Firm’s General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on legal matters for the Firm16.Assist with all other projects and special requests as neededKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1.Education: Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in the United States required2.Four years’ experience with strong knowledge of legal ethics and loss prevention 3.Knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct 4.Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; must be able to articulate issues accurately, clearly and succinctly5.Strong analytical and problem solving abilities needed to address complex questions and issues6.Must have strong organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented; issue-tracking, follow-up and resolution skills are essential7.Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, deadline-driven environment and respond appropriately to shifting priorities8.Must maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information9.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Remote work option.
