Medtronic Principal Systems Engineer- Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Description:

Principal Systems Engineer- Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) for Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, MN. Represent the R&D function on cross functional core groups. Establish the trade-off space for a product development program through building consensus amongst business and technical groups regarding scope and feature/performance prioritization. Utilize DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control), DRM (Design, Reliability, and Manufacturability) and Lean Six Sigma methodology to suggest design improvement; lead and represent the R&D extended teams by maintaining a detailed R&D schedule using MS Project, issue log, risk register and key decision log through all phases of Product Development Process including design controls (Concept, Feasibility, Design Input, Design Output, Design Freeze, Design Verification and Commercial Launch); evaluate medical product/process using techniques such as DOE (Design of Experiment), regression analysis, test method development and validation, QMS (Quality Mgmt. System); troubleshoot product-related issues utilizing problem solving techniques; and address non-conformances in the system development process, investigate root-causes, CAPA and disposition. Leverage knowledge from being PMP (Project Management Professional) certified. Position is open to telecommuting from anywhere in the United States.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical Engineering, or Engineering Management or related engineering field and three (3) years of experience as a systems/product engineer or related occupation for medical devices; or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical Engineering or Engineering Management, or related engineering field and five (5) years of experience as a systems/product engineer or related occupation for medical devices. Must possess at least three (3) years of experience with each of the following: DMAIC, DRM, and Lean Six Sigma; MS Project, Medical device product development process, and design controls; DOE, regression analysis, and QMS; and Non-conformances in design process, investigating root-causes, CAPA, and disposition plan. Project Management Professional Certification required. Position is open to telecommuting from anywhere in the United States.

Salary: $128,000 to $192,000 per year
