Assisting others with data processing queries, code troubleshooting and analysis of results. 25% Data management - development, management and maintenance of data and database infrastructure. Entry of data, responding to requests of data users, immediate troubleshooting of database bugs and crashes and implementing database modifications as approved by a data management committee. Assisting users with database functionality and develop procedures to ensure data integrity and quality. 5% Supervising - Training and supervising data entry personnel, running spot checks on data entered, resolving difficult judgment calls and other questions that arise during data entry (consulting users and data management committee as necessary). 5% Dissemination of Results - Reporting and discussion of analysis methods and results to individual users and the broader research group. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - PhD in computer science, biomedical engineering, neuroscience or related field with one or more years of research training - Programming expertise in MATLAB - Clear communicator verbally and in writing Preferred Qualifications: - Background in systems neuroscience and extensive experience in the analysis of neural signals at the levels of single neuron and local field potentials. - Experience with data management, organization or database architecture. - Experience with intraoperative neurophysiological recordings, in either a pre-clinical or clinical setting. - Experience with neurophysiological recordings from deep brain stimulation leads in movement disorders. About the Department The Neuromodulation Research Center is primarily focused on understanding the pathophysiology of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and dystonia as well as the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of deep brain stimulation. Much of the work focuses on the ultimate translation of basic laboratory research discoveries into clinical treatment options for affected patients in order to reduce symptoms, minimize side effects, and enhance function and quality of life. The laboratory forms key collaborations with other experts in neurology as well as other disciplines such as neurosurgery, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and radiology in addition to the medical industry to expedite and enhance new discoveries and their meaningful translation from "bench to bedside."
