A major focus of the lab is on the role of proteases and their serpin inhibitors in beta cell regeneration and pancreatic islet inflammation. The post-doctoral associate will be expected to formulate testable hypothesis, design and carry out bench work experiments, have strong communication skills and be willing to work collaboratively with other members of a research team. Qualifications Required Qualifications: PhD, MD/PhD, MD or equivalent in molecular biology or a related field Strong experimental skills including mammalian cell and tissue culture techniques, western blotting, DNA and protein electrophoresis, advanced flow cytometry, and fluorescence microscopy and image analysis Strong organizational , and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills - verbal and written Must be a team player Preferred Qualfiications: Experience with advanced molecular biology skill set including mammalian tissue culture techniques, molecular cloning, viral vector generation, miRNA biology, RNAseq interpretation, Q-PCR, quantitative microscopy and image analysis, multi-color flow cytometry, generating and characterizing monoclonal antibodies and western blotting. Experience with mice Familiarity with the pathophysiology of diabetes, and animal models of disease is a plus.
