This position will focus on providing financial information, advocacy, connection to resources, and payment collection on site. This position will also work as a resource for patients, providers, interpreters, and clinic staff within the billing department for medical, dental, and mental health. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to multitask, organize tasks and prioritize. Have high level oral and written communication skills to work with patients, staff, providers and insurance companies. Excellent customer service skills and a strong attention to detail are a must. Preferred experience in working with patients and staff from diverse cultures, languages and backgrounds. Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures. The initial training period will be onsite for 3 to 4 weeks. Once training is completed, this position is a hybrid position, working 2-3 days from in person and 2-3 days remote. The working hours are Monday - Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm. Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the revenue cycle manager. Salary starts at $22.85/hr depending on experience. Essential Functions Position overview and functions may change as position develops Financial Aid & Good Faith Estimates (GFE) Processes (40%) Assist patients with the completion of financial assistance applications and application renewals based on established policies and procedures and maintain documentation to support each step of the process through to application approval or denial. Screen patients for programs they may qualify for based on household income and family size, or other established criteria depending on the program and complete all necessary application forms in a timely manner. Facilitate public program application through the MNSure portal. Manages the Good Faith Estimate process for underinsured and uninsured patients in a timely manner in accordance with State and Federal guidelines. Billing Assistance (30%) Provide on-site customer service to patients related to questions about their bill and education related to discounts and public programs that may be available to them. Direct patients to other resources as needed. Assist patients with billing questions and take payments accordingly. Read and understand Explanation of Benefits to report issues to the billing supervisor and/or team members. Outreach (15%) Provide outreach to uninsured patients receiving care to evaluate eligibility for Sliding Fee Discount Program, public programs, or other programs they may be eligible for. Assist patient through the application process. Track patients scheduled for appointments without insurance and contact them prior to their scheduled appointment to provide information about discounts and public programs available. Start the application over the phone and provide patients with information related to next steps in the application process and what documentation is needed to complete the application process. Use online insurance eligibility systems to verify the patient's insurance status. Other job duties: (15%) Maintain reports required by the position and updated daily. Maintain training and education necessary to maintain a MNSure Navigator certification and recertification. Attend team and clinic-wide meetings as well as one-on-one's with supervisor. This position works closely with various teams and will need to understand the processes and workflows. This role is responsible for professionalism and courteousness to patients and clinic staff, accepting payments, waiver review, estimated treatment costs, an questions on account. Other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change consistent with the job class. Qualifications Required Qualifications MNSure Navigator certification is required within first 30 days. High school diploma/GED and four years of general accounts transaction experience. Training may be substituted for some of the years of experience. Experience in an administrative and/or clerical role in a health care setting. Experience working with insurance verification, coordination of benefits, billing practices and insurance collections Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Epic EMR (Employee Medical Records) Post-secondary education credits in business or healthcare Fluency in one of CUHCC's predominant patient languages (Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Lao, Hmong) Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) A negative TB test and Hepatitis B Vaccination are required for this position.
