In addition, this position provides the logistical coordination and support of routes and services for the distribution of mail, packages, and other supplies. Responsibilities 40% Provides logistical coordination and support for all cross dock distribution on a daily basis including research and resolution of labeling and delivery issues. Serves as a critical customer service contact fielding customer requests, concerns, and inquiries regarding package tracking and all cross-dock functions. 20% Provides oversight and support of various direct report staff and warehouse/receiving functions as needed. 15% Responsible for ongoing delivery activities of temperature sensitive and urgent packages. Responds to requests for expedited deliveries, ETAs, holds, special handling or various other subjects. 10% Provides backup for dock operations at the Academic Health Center, the Biomedical Discovery District and the warehouse operations as needed. 10% Responsible for various month-end and other invoicing tasks 5% Provides backup support for courier dispatching and Campus Mail operations. Essential Functions of the Position Provides first line customer service for customers requiring immediate delivery of packages or correspondence. Determines the best use of resources, weighing the needs of the customer against the cost of service. Utilizes both internal and external delivery resources to render the most efficient level of service. Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers. Functions in a variety of back-up capacities, as needed by the department. Work Environment Work in this classification can include both inside and outside environments. Inside work includes mainly warehouse environments but can also include office, classroom, laboratory and custodial closet locations. Outside work can include exposure to varied weather environments. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications__ BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years. Proven ability to work collaboratively to meet strategic goals within a logistics, production, receiving or warehouse operations environment. Must have a valid Minnesota driver's license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge: Knowledge of vehicle and materials handling operation and safety rules are requirements for the position. Safe handling practices and efficient receiving and processing methods are also expected in this position. Skills: Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team are a requirement. Skilled at using communication technology, package tracking and electronic request systems utilized to receive and record requests for service. Abilities: Ability to identify and map efficient delivery routes. Ability to work with various customers and distribution and warehouse staff in a high paced environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and carryout varied assignments as requested by management. Supervision This position will have one or more direct reporting staff. Incumbents in this classification have the authority to perform or to effectively recommend the following actions: hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign work, reward, discipline and direct the work of other employees.
