ASM Global Master Electrician in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary:

The role of the Master Electrician is to safely and efficiently assist in the testing and check-out of new and existing equipment and systems; maintenance and repair of all electrical components, systems, and structures as directed; and contribute efforts and ideas which will ensure their proper operation, performance and reliability. Coordinate and execute installation, repairs, troubleshooting, and perform preventive maintenance on, including but not limited to, indoor lighting systems, electrical systems, and apparatus, Main Power Distribution Systems and Panel Boards, outdoor facility lighting, construction projects, kitchen equipment, and HVAC systems. Respond to emergency power failures and emergency backup systems. Monitor and test various electrical systems. Certify work performed by contractors as complete and in accordance with NEC. Must maintain a valid Master Electrician License.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement an effective preventative maintenance program for all electrical components and systems.

  • Repair, maintain, and install new electrical distribution.

  • Interpret blueprints and drawing rough sketches when required.

  • Support the successful completion of NBA games, WNBA games, major music/entertainment events, and smaller miscellaneous events each year.

  • Maintain, repair, organize, and clean all building systems, tools and related equipment.

  • Assist in required daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual required building inspections, and institute required corrections and/or Preventative Maintenance systems and schedules as needed.

  • Provide assistance during emergencies.

  • Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for clients.

  • Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

  • Lead, guide, and/or train other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.

  • Repair and maintain motor control centers and programmable logic controls (1000 volt and below).

  • Knowledge of secondary electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.

  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems 1000 volt and below.

  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.

  • Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

  • Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position.

  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

  • Ensure that equipment is properly tagged and secured before maintenance or repair work is performed.

  • Manage all lighting controls for entire building including exterior and parking garages.

  • Work with subcontractors and vendors as required to carry out the various responsibilities of such 3rd party services.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and as needed to assist in the management of responsibilities associated with the facility.

  • May be subject to 24 hour per day and 7 days per week on call.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible electrical experience required, in an operational environment such as electrical construction or maintenance.

  • Must possess or have the ability to possess State of Minnesota Master Electrician License

  • Must be able to work in heights of 125 ft. and with consideration lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Good communication and expression skills are a must in working effectively with all individuals both inside and outside the company.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required

  • Able to work both independently with minimum supervision and in a team atmosphere

  • Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines

  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in property and/or facilities maintenance

  • Low voltage experience is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of HVAC to assist in diagnosing failures

  • Experience with large-scale events in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays as required

  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building
