Bigos Management Maintenance in Training Technician in Minneapolis, Minnesota
BIGOS MANAGEMENT IS PROUD TO BE NAMED A STAR TRIBUNE TOP WORKPLACE IN 2023 FOR THE 9thTIME This is a maintenance program designed to give entry-level talent on-the-job training and exposure to the Maintenance Technician position with the intent that trainees would move into a regular Maintenance Technician role upon program completion. HOURS Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Limited nights and weekends for on-call training. JOB SUMMARY This position provides the opportunity to gain practical work experience as a property management maintenance technician. Maintenance in Training (MIT) technicians will work closely with a Maintenance Mentor to learn all aspects of the Maintenance Technician role including equipment installation troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance in order to ensure the property and grounds are meeting the company's established standards and any applicable laws. Upon successful completion of the Maintenance in Training Learning Plan, trainees will move into a Maintenance Technician position. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Works directly with Maintenance Mentor to complete outlined Maintenance-In-Training Learning Plan Completes assigned training courses Reviews all existing work orders with the Maintenance Mentor and completes work orders as assigned Performs ground keeping tasks (as needed, based on needs of the property) Assist the Property Manager in completing unit-to-unit inspections Works directly with Property Manager and onsite technicians to keep an adequate inventory of hand tools, parts and supplies to maintain a complete workshop area Works with Maintenance Mentor to monitor and maintain all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, boilers) and complete all site-level preventative maintenance duties Maintain positive and professional manner with all residents, vendors and the public Comply with all safety program requirements and work to promote safety in the workplace Alerts the Property Manager to any unusual circumstances or high priority issues that need immediate attention All other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years' experience in a related work environment (construction, maintenance, general labor) AA degree or certification in mechanical, HVAC, electrical or industrial maintenance (preferred) Skills and Abilities: Fluent in English and skilled in oral and written communication Ability to use tact and diplomacy in a clear, courteous manner when dealing with co-workers and the public Excellent decision-making, problem solving, and time management skills Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously with self-direction Ability to openly accept feedback and display a willingness to learn Ability to perform assigned tasks with some work direction Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Personal Protective Equipment: Safety gloves, safety eyewear, ear plugs, Yaktrax Work Environment: On property, property grounds, apartment units, roof tops Required Tools: Hand Tools: Hammer, Screwdriver (Phillips and Slotted), Crescent Wrench, Channellock Pliers, Utility Knife, Flashlight Power Tools: Cordless Drill Measuring Devices: Tape Measure As set forth in Bigos Management s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the bases of any protected group of status under any applicable law.
