Through both its Public Housing and Section 8 programs, the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) provides over 26,000 Minneapolis residents with decent, safe, and affordable federally subsidized housing. MPHA is looking for a law clerk to work part-time hours during the school year with the possibility of full-time hours during the summer within its legal department.

Duties will include legal research and writing and litigation support, with an emphasis on landlord/tenant law including reasonable accommodations (disability/fair housing law) and Violence Against Women Act requests. The law clerk does a variety of regulatory law and research on matters affecting MPHA as a public agency and may include research of local, state and federal law as it relates to housing, data practices, open meeting, labor and employment law.

The MPHA’s Legal Department consists of a General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, Senior Attorney, Staff Attorney and Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on legal experience in a wide variety of practice areas. Candidates must be detail-oriented with strong research and writing skills, highly motivated, and able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Candidate must be a current law student.

The job is located at MPHA’s administrative office at 1001 Washington Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55401 with the option to complete some work remotely.
