Job Description: Summary: Barr is seeking a data science intern to join our Environmental Management team for the 2025 summer season! The individual in this role will join a talented and collaborative team of professionals who will support the intern as they explore their interests and build their professional experience at the intersection of computer science, engineering, and environmental science. The intern will support various teams and projects including data analysis, data infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and automation. The role will support both internal and client-facing initiatives. Responsibilities may include: Using tools such as Python, Power BI, and Excel to automate data transformation and visualization processes Participating in Barr's Data Resource Group and supporting technology for a wide variety of engineering and scientific project work Working with artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives, including working with teams to deploy retrieval augmented generation models Collaborating with various teams to collect requirements and user stories to build digital tools and processes Participating in process improvements and special projects as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Ongoing enrollment in a management information systems, computer science, data science, or related program, such as engineering with an emphasis on technology Junior or senior standing, with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship Familiarity with coding in Python, SQL, and other programming languages Familiarity with key concepts around machine learning Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills and desire to learn Strong team mentality with a willingness to assist where needed to contribute to the group's success Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and follow through Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications: Previous relevant internship experience Experience evaluating environmental data A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
