This position reports directly to the Research Office's Administrative Director. Approximately 0.5 FTE is directed towards the strategic planning, design, and management of all CVM internal competitive grant programs distributing $800,000 per year. Duties include: Administration of CVM's internal grant competition and review processes based on college feedback and with the approval of the Associate Dean for Research. Set up, maintenance, and management of funding programs which includes: maintaining the internal grants post-award database managing the internal grants calendar/tasks create and store associated project folders to house pertinent documents related to each project Distributing requests for proposals for internal programs and responding to investigator inquiries regarding requests for proposals. Receipt of applications and review for completeness/compliance with application instructions (technical review of applications). Organizing proposal reviews including: Organizing and assigning reviewers, sending adequate instructions to all reviewers, collecting and collating written reviews, and managing final review oversight and approval by Associate Dean for Research and CVM Research Committee. Managing all CVM awards in the National Institute of Food and Agriculture's REEPort and NRS systems, facilitating and assuring annual and final progress reporting for all awards by providing reminders and assisting faculty with completing awards in the REEPort and NRS systems. In partnership with the Associate Dean for Research, the Director of the Research Office, and the CVM Research Committee, develop and implement best practices for internal grant funding competitions including: Designing and building internal grant applications; Drafting requests for proposals; Overseeing and administering internal grant review processes, assuring appropriate expertise, and avoiding potential conflicts; Drafting/revising grant scoring rubrics; Setting up national and multistate program participants in the National Institute of Food and Agriculture's National Information Management & Support System and completing appropriate appendices. Responsible for ensuring the submission of reports in the NRS or REEport. Approximately 0.30 FTE is directed towards project and event management: Serve as the project manager for CVM's R.I.D.E. Summit, which includes: Lead the development and implementation efforts for the event Work with the research communications specialist to create and send out event-related messaging Coordinate and communicate event details with stakeholders (participants, guests, facilities management, leadership, partnering departments or units) Coordinate personnel on the day of the event Administer and collate feedback from event attendees Prepare post-event reports of cost, attendance, successes, and areas for improvements Plan and execute other special events such as: CVM's contribution to Research Ethics Week Research, Innovation, Discovery, and Education (R.I.D.E) Seminar Series Workshops on topics of interest to CVM researchers (technology commercialization series, diversity and inclusion in research series, special seminars) Approximately 0.20 FTE is directed towards assistance with the implementation of new research initiatives which includes but are not limited to: Serve as project manager of the biweekly newsletter to effectively communicate with faculty and staff regarding research updates and opportunities, in collaboration with Research Communications Specialist. Work with the Research Communications Specialist to c eate initial drafts for short communications (research round-ups, new funding blurbs, etc.) when needed. Assist the Research & Training Programs Specialist by offering support to the Fellowship Grant Writing group as needed. Qualifications Minimum Requirements BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
