City Of Minneapolis-Human Resources Homeless Response Coordinator - Amended in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Description This job posting will be used for on-going hiring without closing for applications. Applications will be reviewed in groups on an on-going basis as described in the Selection Process section below. The Homeless Response Coordinator will coordinate the City's response to unsheltered homelessness, in partnership with other City departments. This position will support the City's efforts to prevent, prepare for, and respond to persons who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness through the planning, coordination, and execution of various strategies. The position will be in the field administering direct response to homeless encampments and other persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Job Duties and Responsibilities Perform street outreach work, including interacting with persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness, making referrals to housing and shelter. Coordinate the response to unsheltered homelessness among city departments, including Health, MPD and others that have a role in the City's homeless response system to identify and coordinate services that the City can directly provide to persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness, including outreach, health services and sanitation services. Coordinate work of all street outreach teams that are contracted by City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County; ensuring outreach teams are covering different geographic areas, and meeting housing goals. Work with Hennepin County, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, homeless shelter providers, and other regional partners on unsheltered homeless response, to inform outreach coordination and outreach activities. Prepare and present information related to data on unsheltered homelessness and street outreach outcomes. Represent the City in meetings about unsheltered homelessness with key stakeholders, including elected officials, staff from partner organizations, community members, and people with lived experience of homelessness. WORKING CONDITIONS Combination of office and field work with some exposure to volatile and potentially dangerous situations in the field. Resume and Cover Letter Required. Required Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as social work, human services, mental health services, affordable housing or public policy. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Two years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness, and working with a variety of stakeholders, including those internal and external to an organization. LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS None required Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered. Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and an oral examination (100%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process. Background Check The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire six (6) months after it has been established. Interview Selection The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.
