Position Description The Department of Performance Management and Innovation helps the City innovate and transform residents' lives. Working with residents, City departments, elected officials, stakeholders, organizations and community partners, we push for bold new ideas, collaborate to develop solutions that support community-centered service delivery and demonstrate measurable results. Work Location This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Job Duties and Responsibilities Act as a liaison for the City and the Department, develop and implement communication strategies to educate and inform the public, and other stakeholders about the goals, policies and programs concerning community engagement activities, and support connections to resources, or resolve specific issues. Produce newsletters, public announcements, and other documents, using appropriate computer applications. Identify desired outreach materials and to draft/create documents so that they are accessible in multiple formats and languages on behalf of entire Department. information based on intended audiences. Assist with administrative details scheduling meetings, coordinating communications, and responding to requests. Provide assistance to the Department management team, including the director, with scheduling meetings, coordinating communications, responding to requests. Assist with the drafting and production of correspondence, and other important documents for internal and external audiences, and forms for City Council processes, publications, newsletters, and other important documents. Maintain important program information and database information. Provide coordination of staffing, supplies and all associated communication for community fairs, festivals, events, and other venues. Work with the Deputy Director and the Department Director in providing staff support to community engagement , its task forces and/or other department or community advisory groups; preparing and delivering presentations as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies, Public Administration, Political Science or related field. Minimum Experience One year of experience performing similar duties with neighborhood groups and organizations. Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered. Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. Background Check The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Eligible List Statement The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire upon hire. Interview Selection The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to negotiate and work collaboratively. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Ability to understand policy and management implications of program issues and make recommendations. Ability to assist groups in complex decision making processes. Working knowledge of the organization and operation of City Government. Good knowledge of project management techniques. Demonstrated conflict management and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written presentation skills including ability to message information to specific audiences in appropriate formats, tone and context. Knowledge of office procedures, principles of administration, organizational structures and unit coordination. Preferred but not required: Fluency in one or more languages spoken by the City's immigrant and refugee populations (such as Hmong, Lao, Oromo, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese).
