Job ID359211 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job Job title: Clinical Document Annotator About the Job Department of Surgery (DOS, https://med.umn.edu/surgery) at the University of Minnesota is seeking a clinical data annotator to join a team working on multiple research projects in the field of health data science and natural language process, computer vision in the Division of Computational Health Data Sciences (CHS) at the DOS. The position is a hourly paid position. About the Program Division of CHS is a division which focuses on development of novel data science methods to analyze biomedical big data for advancing health care. The Natural Language Processing / Information Extraction (NLP/IE) Program (https://healthinformatics.umn.edu/natural-language-processing) at the Institute for Health Informatics is a team of investigators, postdoctoral researchers, programmers, and students who work together on NLP for a variety of clinical and biomedical tasks. Duties/Responsibilities: * Working with domain experts (clinicians, informatician, health data scientist) to develop annotation guideline for extracting clinical information from clinical documents and/or biomedical literature * Ability to use annotation software to conduct annotation tasks * Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing. * Collaborates with leadership and stakeholders across the system to transform data and information into knowledge that will assist leaders in making informed decisions that support strategic initiatives. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field, science field or similar. * Experience of clinical data abstractor, data entry, or similar role in a healthcare setting * Excellent writing and communication skills * Highly motivated, ability to identify potential problems and develop solutions * Technical skills with experience using Windows and Microsoft applications Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of research scientists with different skill sets and expertise * Experience of using annotation tools About the Department To learn more about the Department of Surgery, please visit: How To Apply Student positions are a form of financial support while pursuing an education at the University of Minnesota.
