WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Climate and Energy Project Manager will support the North America Climate Mitigation Program over the next two years. The Nature Conservancy's North America Climate Mitigation Program, which consists of three strategies - US Climate Policy, Natural Climate Solutions, and Renewable Energy Deployment - is working to advance durable, equitable, science-based policies and practices that enable net-zero future by mid-century. The Climate and Energy Project Manager will be responsible for operational and project management support necessary to achieve TNC's North America Climate Mitigation Program policy and practice goals. This position will primarily support project management for the Renewable Energy Deployment strategy including signature projects such as Site Renewables Right and Mining the Sun. They will also provide project management support for the overall North America Climate Mitigation Program. They will be responsible for project management functions, including team coordination and support, grant, and contract management in compliance with TNC's procurement and compliance policies, coordinating internal and external reporting efforts, development of program materials, communications coordination, and discrete project management. This work is carried out in coordination with North America Policy & Government Relations and other teams in the North America Region and is accomplished primarily through internal interactions with TNC business units and external interactions with partner organizations and vendors. WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU The Climate and Energy Project Manager will perform project management functions as part of the renewable energy strategy team, including managing team agendas and organizing speakers, developing and managing project workplans, undertaking research and outreach to business units to support program reporting and tracking, leading grant and contract management activities, and other related functions. They will develop and track project and team budgets, metrics, and schedules in collaboration with the renewable energy deployment strategy leads, program management staff, and other key team members. They will critically assess project scope and objectives, ensuring all risks and dependencies are addressed in the project plan to deliver successful project results that support the fulfillment of the objectives. The Climate and Energy Project Manager will collaboratively solve complex problems and obtain go/no-go decisions at all project decision points from the Project Lead or Sponsor and identify and obtain approval for project deliverables from the appropriate staff or teams. Throughout the project lifecycle, they will monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, and communicate project status information to all stakeholders. They will track, maintain, and report on key data, trends, best practices related to the scope and priorities of TNC's North America Climate Mitigation Program. We're looking for someone with strong experience in leading a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication and collaboration skills and experience designing, organizing, and directing complex projects. WHAT YOU'LL BRING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination; 2 years of project management experience or 1 year acting as a project lead; Completed coursework or other training on project management principles, or equivalent experience; Experience in managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners; Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff; and Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, web browsers, etc.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment; Ability to navigate complex project challenges and offer innovative solutions; Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data; Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), knowledge of current trends and practices in project management, or experienced in using project management tools and technologies, specifically Smartsheet; Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages; Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade; Relevant experience working with NGOs, think tanks, or other organizations on project management; Knowledge of the conservation and community implications of renewable energy technology deployment or climate and energy trends.
