Job ID350345 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9742R5 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Seeking a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Research Scientist to develop, optimize, and implement data analysis pipelines and analytical tools that enable comprehensive tumor genomic profiling for cancer biology research and cellular senescence biomarker discovery. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Process, analyze and interpret high volumes of data as part of collaborative research projects. Develop automated methods and software pipelines to support large-scale bioinformatics analysis. Develop and implement novel analytical tools, and capable of troubleshooting the technical steps in developing new tools. 2. Benchmark performance characteristics of published and emerging analytical pipelines and single cell genomics analysis algorithms. 3. Monitor and evaluate analytical algorithms development for new/emerging bioinformatics, genomics and sequencing technologies. 4. Work independently and prepare timetables, deliverables, and project schedules Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 1. Fluency in one programming and one scripting languages is required (Python, R/Matlab/Splus, Perl, Java) 2. Experience in developing algorithms for analysis of biological data. Experience in algorithm development for analysis of massively parallel sequencing data (NGS seq, RNA-seq/scRNAseq etc..) is highly desirable. 3. A track record of publications in the academic setting. 4. Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics. 5. Excellent teamwork, time management and organizational skills. 6. 1 or more years of research training. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Experience in cancer research, including a working understanding of computation approaches for cancer genome analysis, is highly desirable REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Master or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related computational fields. At least one year of research training.
