Compliance Officer – Fair Lending | Twin Cities Metro Area
Are you a compliance leader ready to make an impact? Our client, a prominent regional commercial bank in the Twin Cities market, is seeking a Compliance Officer to oversee their Fair Lending program. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic financial institution committed to equitable lending practices and community development.
As a Compliance Officer, you’ll lead the Fair Lending team, ensuring the bank adheres to regulatory compliance requirements while advancing its community reinvestment and consumer lending initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and mentor Fair Lending Analysts, driving professional growth and a collaborative team culture.
Oversee community reinvestment activities by partnering with executive management to develop strategies that address community banking needs and regulatory compliance.
Monitor regulatory trends, ensuring timely updates to policies and procedures.
Develop and implement programs to enhance community lending performance while meeting compliance standards (e.g., ECOA, HMDA, CRA).
Serve as the point of contact for CRA examinations and ensure corrective actions from audits are implemented effectively.
Provide actionable insights to executive stakeholders to support fair lending strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in financial regulatory compliance, preferably in a financial institution or agency; or a Juris Doctor with 3+ years of relevant experience.
2+ years of team management experience with proven leadership and mentorship skills.
Strong knowledge of community lending compliance laws such as CRA, ECOA, HMDA, FHA, and UDAAP.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Advanced proficiency in Excel is a plus.
Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing complex compliance issues.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance officer role or similar position
• Proven experience in compliance, particularly within the banking industry
• Demonstrated knowledge of Community Reinvestment Act and strategy programs
• Extensive understanding of banking compliance and regulations
• Prior experience in consumer lending environments would be an advantage
• Strong management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
• Excellent analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex data
• Familiarity with banking regulations and the ability to ensure all operations adhere to these standards
• Ability to proactively identify potential compliance issues and develop appropriate solutions
• High level of integrity and detail-oriented ethics
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with all levels of the organization
• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
