Job ID359805 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAcademic Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9403 Employee ClassInstr Fac/TC and Coord Cmp About the Job The Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation Division at the University of Minnesota is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant Professor research faculty member with training and experience in NK cell based immunotherapy research involving pre-clinical models of cancer in Hematology, Oncology. At the University of Minnesota this individual will assume an important role in the development and principles underlying innovative pre-clinical investigations in Hematology/Oncology with a particular focus on NK cell immunotherapy, design/expression of biologics aimed at amplifying the NK cell immune response in different cancer settings including characterization of the tumor microenvironment after NK cell anti-tumor strategies. This may involve research into the understanding of how particular components of the immune system respond to different cancer types (hematologic and solid tumor malignancies). Research activities are expected to include analysis of NK cell interactions (effector cells vs. suppressor cells) with a detailed evaluation of suppressive factors in the tumor microenvironment and how those factors affect NK cell responses. In addition, molecular approaches to bypass suppressive signals, and generation of genetically modified cellular products and biologics to better target and leverage immunotherapy are expected. This will involve collaboration with other Division faculty who are involved in clinical research projects related to this work across a variety of cancer settings. Opportunities for other experimental avenues may be developed. This position will provide opportunities for broad-based collaborations. This individual may also participate in the teaching of post-graduate trainees in laboratory methods to study immune therapies. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position will have successfully completed doctoral and post-doctoral research training, with specific experience in laboratory-based preclinical and translational research relevant to in Hematology/Oncology and a record of experience for at least 5 years. Experience, and previous publications, in NK cell biology and immunotherapy settings are required. A deep understanding of NK cellular product generation and NK-targeted biologics against cancer. Experience with confocal microscopy, high resolution imaging, imaging-based platforms, and other cytolytic-evaluation platforms is highly desired. Also, experience managing individuals required as the candidate will be expected to manage researchers and help in the training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain your legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
