Faculty candidates will develop molecular and computational methods and tools to support health science and clinical research. The specific research areas of interest include expertise in Virology, Next Gen sequencing, Molecular biology, Molecular Diagnostics, DNA and RNA sequence-based diagnostics, Biomarker discovery and their cross-over areas. The successful candidate will join a uniquely interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment of scientists and scholars conducting innovative and impactful research aimed at improving health care outcomes and delivery. The candidate is expected to work on a USDA funded project which is specifically aimed to generate a novel Next-Gen sequencing based method for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics and surveillance in general and specifically address detection of SARS-CoV-2 recombinants with other potential viruses in animals and humans. The study should be expanded to other types of viruses as well. The candidate is expected to develop novel and more efficient methods for NGS-based diagnostics, biomarker development, and gene expressions rather than using existing commercially available methods. Candidate is also expected to direct novel bioinformatics pipelines for analysis, interpretation, and integration into existing state-of-the-art pipelines in practice. Qualifications Required qualifications: PhD in molecular biology with an emphasis on computational methods and tools to support health science and clinical research. Experience with NGS-based diagnostics, biomarker development and gene expressions. Prefer candidates with proven track record of securing grant support.
