Job Description Our division's mission is to meet every student where they are with authentic presence, outreach, and engagement. This role will be responsible for building relationships with prospective students and assisting students through all stages of the application process including exploring, applying and enrolling. The counselor will provide student-centered counseling being able to connect on a wide breadth of areas for the University. Primary Responsibilities 90% of time spent on direct student engagement. Provide high-level service to prospective students and parents regarding degree and other programs, application processes, financial aid, orientation and other determining factors for enrollment. Build engagements with students and parents in person (on and off campus), via email, phone, and texting. Attending regular staff meetings to stay informed of institutional changes that would impact the students' experience. Assist with events on and off campus including organizing, set up, running and presenting. Share trends on what you are hearing from students with the wider team. Make admission decisions. Use the CRM to record engagements. Additional Responsibilities Make connections with campus partners including staff and faculty to be a resource for students. All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s). Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associates or Bachelor's degree. Preferred Qualifications Admission experience as a professional staff or student worker. Ability to speak bilingually: Spanish, Somali, Arabic or Hmong. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong communications skills, including strong active listening; professional written communication skills; public speaking skills. Skilled at working with intergenerational colleagues and families. Effective time management skills. Team player, effective at collaboration. Experience with Microsoft Suite of products (word, excel), Zoom, Google Suite of products (word doc, sheets, google meet). Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability and excitement to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
