Program Overview

WIM Early Careers seeks to attract, develop, and retain recent college graduates to Wealth & Investment Management. Our goal is to build bench strength and increase our commitment to diversity in WIM.

The Wells Fargo Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Development Program is ideal for recent undergraduates interested in working in a collaborative environment focused on personal and professional development.

There are two tracks within the WIM Development Program: Cross-WIM track and the Banking, Lending, & Trust track.

Cross-WIM Track : Participants will rotate through various WIM lines of business, over a two-year period to engage in intensive deep-dive sessions focusing on our key businesses, group project work, coaching and mentoring, and exposure to key leaders.

Rotations will be available throughout WIM's businesses below which include areas of investment management, financial analytics, project management, consulting, and beyond in a "home office" or "middle/back office" environment.

  • Investment Solutions: Provides WIM's investment expertise, solutions, and product offerings. This includes Wells Fargo Investment Institute, which creates core investment strategies, investment research, and other forms of intellectual capital to support WIM.

  • Client Relationship Group: Oversees initiatives and support for financial advisor and team-led client coverage, including Wells Fargo Advisors, Wells Fargo Private Bank, and our digital and contact center teams and Independent Channels.

  • The Private Bank (TPB): Focused on creating a premier experience for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients by utilizing the specialists in our Centers of Excellence.

  • Other lines of business include - WIM Advisory & Client Experience, Chief Administration Office & Transformation, WIM Diverse Client Segments and WIM Marketing.

Banking, Lending & Trust (BL&T) Track: Participants will experience a non-rotational alignment to one of the several BL&T business groups and focus on engaging with business initiatives, group project work, coaching and mentoring, and exposure to key leaders. The BL&T track may be a 1-2 year program experience based on business need. BL&T is a Center of Excellence that unlocks access to WIM products and services based on client needs related to banking, lending, and trust.

  • Deposits & Consumer Lending : This product management team is responsible for cash management offerings; consumer credit product strategy; and consumer credit underwriting, risk management, and related strategic initiatives focused primarily on affluent and high-net-worth (HNW) client segments.

  • Product Development : This team executes technology change management initiatives. Product owners' partner with the business and technology to bring new processes and products to market, while working with legal, risk, compliance, and control, to ensure business is ready for change in a controlled and compliant manner

  • Banking & Credit Solutions : These client-facing teams provide cash management and credit solutions to HNW and UHNW individuals and family offices with a focus on delivering products and services that meet clients' banking and custom lending needs. These solutions can include: securities-based lending, treasury management, commercial real estate financing, life insurance premium financing, or stock loads for illiquid stock.

  • Private Wealth Portfolio Management : Private Wealth Investments serves affluent, high-net-worth, ultra-high-net-worth, and institutional clients by delivering high-quality discretionary investment management services. We partner with trust officers, trust advisors, and Client Relationship Group (CRG) advisors and leverage the resources of the Wells Fargo Investment Institute to provide a team-based approach for our clients.

  • Trust Services : This team provides personalized advice and services to help HNW individuals and families across generations build, manage, preserve, and transition their wealth. The team offers personal trust services and investment management; individual retirement accounts management; estate services and legacy trust services; Oil, Gas, and Mineral management; philanthropic services; real estate asset management; and special needs trusts.

  • Chief Administrative Office : This team supports and executes strategies to achieve growth, enhance client experience and manage risk. It leads global delivery, cross-business initiatives, oversees complex processes, and manages business implementation of enterprise programs. This team also manages and oversees all risk and governance activities within BL&T.

Professional development during the program centers on growing communication and presentation skills, product and market educational sessions, personal branding and awareness, and project team assignments supporting strategic initiatives. After completion of the development program, participants are placed within a business that fits their skill set and readiness level.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain daily contact with leaders at all levels of the organization including senior management, team members, individual contributors, and vendors.

  • Provide customer service to clients and internal employees, as necessary.

  • Understand processes and workflows to make recommendations for process improvements.

  • Bring closure to issues, questions, and requests. Solve problems independently.

  • Understand business needs and provide possible solutions by explaining in clear verbal and/or written communications to customers and/or management.

  • Consistently learn new systems, applications, processes, and techniques.

  • Lead or participate in projects or support activities, which are moderate in size and organization span.

Ideal candidate for this role must have the following:

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services industry

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualif ications:

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2022-June 2025

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience successfully collaborating with others in a change driven environment

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Communications, English or related field. All majors are welcome.

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel 5% or more of the time

Program Duration: Up to 2-years, full time. Start date: July 2025

Program Locations : The Cross-WIM Development Program offers opportunities across the business in locations aligned to our headquarters locations: Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; and St. Louis, MO, with limited opportunities in other large Wells Fargo hubs such as New York City, NY.

The Bank, Lending, & Trust Development Program offers opportunities across the business in locations aligned to need. Prior locations have included: Las Vegas, NV; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Long Beach, CA; Austin, TX, Minneapolis, MN and more.

The position locations are determined by business needs and are tied to the business function. Applicants are encouraged to be open to relocation for which a small stipend is provided.
