Ascension Health Surgical Instrument Technician-St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We Are Hiring

Prefer CRCST Certification or 1 year experience Will hire if no experience Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to remain calm and keep quality work during high volume periods of stressful situation. Has basic computer skills. Can lift 25-30lbs, push and pull at least 100lbs. Phone etiquette; answer phone in 3 rings in a courteous manner, expressing and greeting caller and identifying self and the department. Complete mandatory MyLearnings, in-services and staff meeting. 7AM-3:30PM, Monday - Friday Weekends 7AM-3:30PM Holidays 7AM - 3:30PM On Call hours, 3:30PM-11PM

What You Will Do

Inspect, assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and to determine need for repair/replacement.

  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.

  • Inspect instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.

  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.

  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.

What You Will Need

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Central Service Tech credentialed from the lntemational Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
