Marquette University Department of Facilities Planning & Management provides support to the university community through the maintenance and management of all university facilities and grounds as well as planning and execution of capital projects. The Custodial Service Manager is responsible for directing and administering Custodial Services personnel in designated locations and disciplines within university facilities. This role supervises work activities according to established standards using appropriate equipment, materials and personnel. This particular opening is responsible for primary management of third shift. It requires broad and diverse knowledge of various methods to deliver a robust custodial operation as well as general knowledge of building components and systems. The position supports and facilitates work of diverse groups and individuals throughout the Department of Facilities Planning & Management. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Supervise all work activities to ensure it is clean, safe and healthy environment for students, employees and visitors. Inspect buildings and facilitate needed corrections. 2. Perform all custodial functions in training, emergency or supplemental capacity. 3. Plan and schedule routine work assignments, staff vacations, and coverage. 4. Meet with customers, staff, department leaders, venders, committees to determine needs and services. Respond to building complaints and problems and find solutions. 5. Coordinate project work utilizing most efficient use of personnel. 6. Maintain keys, procure supplies and equipment inventories. 7. Make quality control inspections ensuring high quality FP&M performance. 8. Initiate, supervise and coordinate work of outside contractors 9. Interview, participate in hiring, discipline and assign employees and maintain associated personnel and time records. Evaluate the performance of employees on a regular routine schedule.. Minimum of five years related experience. A demonstrated history of extensive leadership skills is required. Computer exposure and competence required. Experience working in a large service organization desired. Must possess exceptional people skills. A valid driver\'s license and a satisfactory driving record required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, ability to maintain confidentiality. The ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of university professionals. Possess an open and collaborative style of communication that encourages teamwork and cooperation.
