How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans? Responsibilities This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. This position is assigned to the Mental Health Division and serves in support of the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The incumbent provides a variety of administrative and program support duties/responsibilities to support the managers of the MHRRTP. Major Duties: Composes/edits letters and/or reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, develops standard or form letters, and replies to inquiries. Screens calls and determines if the call requires management's attention, provides the requested information if the inquiry concerns routine and/or procedural requirements, or refers caller to an appropriate staff member. Serves as the timekeeper for the MHRRTP section. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of work and resolves any problems related to time and leave records. Maintains calendars, records appointments, or arranges administrative details for meetings and small conferences in the MHRRTP and at the VISN level. Arranges for meeting space. Coordinates training opportunities for clinical staff. Purchase card holder and complies with all the acquisition regulations, both Federal, VA and local to include 8A, small business, Javits Wagner O-Day Act, and mandatory sources. Makes individual purchases not exceeding $3500 unless specifically authorized to do so by the VISN HCA. Performs typing and data entry work using word processing software and equipment. Coordinates work orders with staff and VA services like EMS, FM and Safety. Must be able to type 40 words per minute. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating work; Solving emergent situations; Knowledge of acquisition regulations, methods, procedures, and business practices to make purchases; Adjusting to changes in policies and procedures; Operating a personal computer and other office equipment; Using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation; Working knowledge of medical terminology; Ability to type 40 words per minute. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like paper or books and will be required at time to lift heavy boxes. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. On occasion, the incumbent may be subjected to personal harm because of angry, hostile, intoxicated, or psychotic patients. The incumbent must be mentally and emotionally stable in order to deal with all levels of anger and hostility.
