Who we are Using computational methodologies, the Leone lab at the MCW\'s Department of Biophysics aims to uncover the microscopic mechanisms by which proteins function, particularly in mitochondrial processes and associated pathologies. Recognizing the complexity of these issues, we advocate for a diverse array of computational approaches, including protein structure prediction (physics- or AI-based methods), molecular dynamics, and free-energy calculations, tailored to address specific questions and involving methodological development as needed. We prioritize linking our findings with experimental data, fostering close collaborations with experimental laboratories to provide quantitative molecular insights into medically significant questions. A postdoctoral training position is currently available in the Leone lab. The project will involve designing and applying state-of-the-art computational structural biology approaches, including the newest development in deep learning in the area, to understand biological mechanisms under physiological or pathological conditions, specifically focusing on neurological diseases. State-of-the-art resources are available for high-performance computing.Purpose According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), a postdoc is an individual who has received a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and is engaged in a temporary and defined period of mentored advanced research training to enhance the professional skills and research independence needed to pursue his or her chosen career path.
