The Student Health and Wellness Center provides integrated, holistic care for students through our medical, counseling, and health promotion and wellness departments. We assist the UWM campus community through collaborative partnerships designed to enhance the university’s academic and community service mission and focus on our student’s wellbeing as an essential component to student success.
Job Summary
As a member of our clinical care team, this position supports student patients in a university health outpatient clinic. The primary responsibilities include clinic support, immunizations, reception responsibilities, and documentation within an electronic health record.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have or provide evidence of the following:
Patient care experience in a healthcare type setting including clinic, urgent care, emergency services
Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified applicants for this position will also provide evidence of the following:
Completion of an accredited training/certification program for medical assisting, certified nursing assistant, or emergency med tech.
Experience working in an ambulatory, primary care, emergency room, urgent care type setting or experience as an EMT /paramedic with the ability and skills to obtain a patient history, accurately assess vital signs and prepare for provider visit.
Experience administering injections (including routine immunizations, antibiotics, pain relief injections). Assist with procedures and perform ancillary tasks ( EKG , phlebotomy, ear lavage).
Experience in medical reception and record management- answering phones, scheduling appointments, assisting with check-in and check-outs, and troubleshooting kiosk issues using the EHR as guidance with awareness of HIPAA / FERPA guidelines.
Experience working with an EHR -documentation of patient care information and updating demographics, ordering labs under protocol, scanning, attaching, and faxing documents when required.
Experience working with multiple providers on a daily basis and the ability to prioritize daily workload, including tasks and procedures that are requested to be completed.
Ability to multitask duties and responsibilities while providing outstanding customer service and contributing positively to the patient care team.
Target Salary Range $16.75 - $19.00 an hour
