Building codes and technologies are rapidly evolving. We are looking for professionals with expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures; excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with both internal and external clients to solve problems on HGA’s projects across the country.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for HVAC engineering design including: calculating heating and cooling loads, select equipment, layout duct and piping, create and edit project details, and write and edit project engineering specifications.
Participate in design review meetings and workshops.
Resolve a variety of complex design challenges including conflicting Owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions.
Research design options and document findings for the project team.
Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards.
Coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable.
Preferred candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field desired.
5+ years of consulting engineering experience with emphasis on HVAC design for healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional and government facilities.
Professional Engineer or Certification recognized by a state licensing board desired.
Knowledge in plumbing systems and building controls is desired but not required.
Revit, BIM, Trane/Trace, IES and Microsoft Office skills required.
