HGA Architects & Engineers Mechanical Engineer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Building codes and technologies are rapidly evolving. We are looking for professionals with expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures; excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with both internal and external clients to solve problems on HGA’s projects across the country.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for HVAC engineering design including: calculating heating and cooling loads, select equipment, layout duct and piping, create and edit project details, and write and edit project engineering specifications.

  • Participate in design review meetings and workshops.

  • Resolve a variety of complex design challenges including conflicting Owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions.

  • Research design options and document findings for the project team.

  • Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards.

  • Coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field desired.

  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience with emphasis on HVAC design for healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional and government facilities.

  • Professional Engineer or Certification recognized by a state licensing board desired.

  • Knowledge in plumbing systems and building controls is desired but not required.

  • Revit, BIM, Trane/Trace, IES and Microsoft Office skills required.
