Job Overview

Within the Mining Strategy and Innovation group, this role will support the Business Units and broader Mining Division by providing actionable, timely, and relevant market research. Reporting to the Director of Market Research, this role will be involved in critical strategic initiatives including Business Development/M&A activity, strategic planning and operational support to the Business Units. It will also be critical in defining and stratifying the market landscape and harmonizing that view across the various Business Units as well as analyzing market trends and delivering actionable recommendations to enhance business performance.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare customer market segmentation, to better understand customer needs and preferences and to stratify our customer market opportunities for Business Unit strategic planning purposes.

  • Prepare weekly market outlook reports that are used directly by executive leadership to analyze and assess market conditions, customers financial performance, projections & trends as they relate to company strategies

  • Prepare quarterly earnings report that assesses the financial & operational of approximately 90 of our major customers & competitors across the mining landscape.

  • Work with Financial Planning and Corporate Finance teams to create and update company financial models used for various purposes and analyses by executive leadership team.

  • Coordinate with KLTD Business Development team and Mining Business Division to objectively analyze M&A opportunities using financial and economic modeling.

  • Identify and evaluate new markets, partners, channels and customers collaborating with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development.

  • Prepare financial trend and analyses comparing current operating results with prior operating results, forecasted results and annual budgeted results

  • Monitor competitors’ strategies, products, and market positioning to provide actionable intelligence.

  • Lead multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards. Translate complex research data into clear, actionable recommendations for various audiences within the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Master’s degree in economics or finance and/or other advanced quantitative degree

• Familiarity with market research tools and software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Tableau, Bloomberg, Factset, PowerBI, etc…)

• Experience with Financial and Economic modeling

• Ability to work independently and as a team member who leads without authority and shares credit for success.

• Professional who’s eager to learn, actively listens, and strives for excellence.

• Displays high levels of self-awareness and social awareness when collaborating with others.
