Wantable Freelance Technical Designer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The Technical Designer is dedicated to creating size-inclusive, well-fitting, and high-quality garments. This is an extraordinary opportunity to join our growing company and make a difference as we establish Private Brand guidelines for quality and fit.
Responsibilities
Manage product category fit sessions and work closely with the design team to execute fit intent
Develop fit blocks, construction standards, and quality guidelines for multiple brands
Experience sketching garments and creating tech packs preferred
Partner with PD on hindsight analysis by-product to analyze product performance relating to fit
Create and maintain all Spec Sheets in PLM
Create and monitor the accuracy of all tech packs for production including POMs, BOM, Construction Call-Outs, Spec Changes
Join the cross-functional teams in all pass-off meetings to make sure that all garment specifications are communicated effectively
Set up tracking reports for all sample approvals, spec changes, etc.
Lead all pattern correction sketching and maintain updated garment details in PLM
Coordinate with the designer and production manager to ensure all production requirements such as colors, trims, fabric quality & fit are met.
Manage all patternmaking in-house combining sketches/ideas from the creative designers and our fit blocks
Requirements
Qualifications
5+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry
You are fluent in MS Office, Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems
You bring advanced expertise in the following: Textiles, pattern making, grading, construction, and pattern terminology
You have strong knowledge and understanding of the fit and technical construction in multi-product categories (knits, activewear & denim) for core/ plus size
Knowledge of garment costing and production
Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, sewing techniques, trim and technical knowledge of fabric and construction
Knowledge of garment specs and grading
Ability to work on cross-functional teams.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Detail and process-oriented.
Clear and concise presentation skills.
Education | B.A./B.S. from a 4-year university with a major in a relevant field, including Pattern Making, Fashion Design, etc.
