The Opportunity: Temp to Hire, Local MKE nonprofit

Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to manage financial transactions, ensure accounting compliance, and contribute to the organization's financial health. This role is crucial for supporting our mission of providing quality early education services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting system: process transactions, prepare journal entries, maintain records.

  • Oversee budget & grant financials: analyze budgets, prepare financial statements, manage invoices & cost-sharing billing.

  • Manage cash & credit cards: deposit receipts, reconcile statements, audit vending machines.

  • Vendor management: process invoices, maintain supplier relationships, ensure payment terms.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and relevant financial reporting standards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to streamline processes and provide financial support.

  • Participate in professional development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices.

  • Assist the agency with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or related field (required).

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience (non-profit preferred).

  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.

  • Ability to learn new software programs.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    Requirements - Strong familiarity with Pivot Table

  • Google Apps experience highly desired

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • GAAP Accounting experience

  • VLOOKUP experience preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites

  • Adeptness in Microsoft

  • Skill with Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools required

  • Skills in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly desired (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

  • Financial planning & analysis (go-to-market experience ideal)

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Spreadsheet and ERP system experience is a plus

  • Active problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity

  • BA/BS degree in finance or a related field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
