Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories (DL) go beyond a test result, by providing support from our physicians and scientific directors. Our industry-leading, multidisciplinary diagnostic approach provides patient-centric insight in the fields of hematology, transfusion medicine, and transplantation.
We currently are recruiting for an Associate Director, Diagnostic Hematology to help lead our Hemostasis Lab and Platelet & Neutrophil Immunology Lab (PNIL). Both laboratories are internationally recognized for their world-class expertise in specialized testing. The Hemostasis Lab is a subspecialty laboratory performing a combination of both commercially available automated assays and in-house developed esoteric assays. It was the first laboratory to clinically provide ADAMTS13 assay and provides the broadest array of assays in the United States for evaluation of patients with concern for von Willebrand disease. The PNIL is one of the top laboratories of its kind with over 30 years of participation in the International Platelet Immunology Workshops of the ISBT. Both labs also actively collaborate with investigators at Versiti’s renowned Blood Research Institute and practicing academic physicians with niche expertise in pediatric and adult non-malignant hematologic disorders.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Diagnostic Hematology, and in partnership with our Hemostasis and PNIL lab leadership teams, the Associate Director, Diagnostic Hematology provides scientific and technical direction and clinical consultation. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for project management related to clinical and contract research, product development and specific business and strategic initiatives. This role provides an excellent opportunity to assert leadership and guide direction of the Hemostasis and PNIL Labs. Areas of focus include scientific and technical leadership, review and sign-out of patient test reports, staff development, and collaboration in continuous improvement and innovation that drives operational excellence.
Requirements:
• Ph.D. in relevant science – immunology, biology, biochemistry
• Minimum of 1-year post-doctoral training in hematology-related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience in writing and publishing scientific articles
• Experience in development, validation, and implementation of new assays
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting including training and/or experience in high complexity testing for the specialty
