The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the largest departments in the College of Letters and Science and administers one of the largest graduate programs at UW-Milwaukee averaging over 90 graduate students per year. The department’s graduate program offers the Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, including seven MS degree options and eight PhD degree options. On average annually, the department receives over 100 graduate student applications, admits over 40 new graduate students, funds over 80 graduate students with assistantships and issues over 90 awards from various department funding sources. The department consists of approximately 30 faculty, 5 teaching academic staff, 25 lecturers, 90 graduate students (approx. 40% international students, and 80 funded students), 300 undergraduate student majors (intended and declared), 25 student workers and is housed in the Engineering and Mathematical Sciences ( EMS ) Building.

Job Summary

This paraprofessional position provides program and instruction support for the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Reporting to the Academic Department Supervisor, this position coordinates and manages general academic support, the course evaluation process and coordinating department events. This position also manages the summer tutoring program for the department. This position provides administrative support to the Academic Department Supervisor, Chair, Associate and Assistant Chair for Undergraduate Studies, faculty and staff. Work is performed under general supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

One year experience in an office setting

Proficiency in MS Microsoft Applications and Google Applications
