Amazon CMCI Manager, Change Management & Continous Improvement Team in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

Description

The Continuous Improvement Manager supports, coordinates and facilitates implementation of new and improved structures, processes and activities. Working closely with EU teams and all levels of management and associates within the Sort Centre (SC), you report directly to the Regional Change Program Manager.

For this role you will need to be adaptable, challenge motivated and thrive on implementing high standard productivity and simplicity using Kaizen/PDCA methods. Curiosity and the confidence to take calculated risks quickly are core characteristics for Continuous Improvements Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Sort Centre improvement plan to focus on best customer experience at the lowest cost

  • Help drive the implementation of Lean Standard Work at all levels of the site

  • Disseminate Lean Standard Work principles across teams

  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking

  • Contribute to and facilitate Kaizen activities

  • Train and support all levels in Kaizen activities

  • Support, manage and validate the implementation of ATS ACES process changes

  • Coordinate and prioritize process improvement activities and resources

  • Standardize processes and actively share best practice across CI network to avoid duplication

  • Analyse process performance at a process path level

  • Liaise between SC and EU to drive leverage of cross-SC process excellence

  • Maintain strong relationships with ACES and Operations

Key job responsibilities

Change Management and Continuous Improvement Manager in a Sortation center would typically include:

  1. Leading Change Initiatives:
  • Identifying areas for operational improvement and driving the implementation of change projects.

  • Conducting thorough analyses to understand the current state, define the desired future state, and map the transition plan.

  • Engaging with cross-functional teams to secure buy-in and support for change initiatives.

  • Communicating change plans effectively to all impacted stakeholders.

  • Developing and executing robust change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions.

  1. Continuous Process Improvement:
  • Monitoring and analyzing operations to identify opportunities for optimization.

  • Applying lean manufacturing principles and methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to drive incremental and breakthrough improvements.

  • Facilitating workshops and events to engage employees in the continuous improvement process.

  • Sharing best practices and lessons learned across the organization.

  1. Operational Efficiency:
  • Reviewing and optimizing sortation workflows, processes, and procedures to enhance productivity and throughput.

  • Identifying and addressing bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste in the sortation operations.

  • Collaborating with logistics, engineering, and technology teams to integrate new solutions and automation.

  • Ensuring compliance with operational standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

  1. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
  • Providing regular progress updates and reporting to management on change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and empowering frontline employees to contribute ideas.

  1. Data Analysis and Decision-Making:
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify opportunities for improvements.

  • Utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making and guide the prioritization of initiatives.

A day in the life

You’ll work shifts and be based at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to maintain safety standards within your team and across your site. You’ll also monitor and maintain process efficiency. Your days will always include prioritising routine team management and daily operational tasks, alongside other tasks like individual escalations, process improvement work and wide-scale operational contingency planning.

Being a key part of the operations team involves working with colleagues in other teams and external partners to make sure we stay on track to meet our customer demands and targets. This will involve analysing data and performance metrics with leaders in your business area, as well as discussing the operational pros and cons of technical improvements with engineers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited institution,

  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English

  • Experience from Industrial Engineering, Business Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations or Logistics

  • Project Portfolio Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience with Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies,

  • Relevant knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Strong ability interpreting & communicating analytics and presenting to senior leadership,

  • Excellent communication skills and detail orientation,

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment,

  • Ability to motivate and influence teams
