Vertex Aerospace CBA - Avionics Technician I - AHTS - Whiting Field, Milton Florida in Milton, Florida

V2X is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Avionics Technician I to join our team at NAS Whiting Field, supporting the Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS). The entry-level position offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art avionics technology essential for training the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps helicopter pilots. As an Avionics Technician I, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and system upgrades on helicopter avionics equipment, ensuring all aircraft meet strict safety and operational standards.

Basic Function Summary:

  • Performs repair, adjustment, removal, and replacement of aircraft electrical and avionics system components and accessories.

  • All work is performed in accordance with applicable government, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, company directives, and other approved data.

  • May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.

  • Must be able to become certified in altimeters, transponder, and pilot/static certification requirements.

  • Knowledge of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, manufacturer’s manuals, and company instructions.

  • Must have knowledge of aircraft materials used and safety precautions as applicable to usage.

  • Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SDS for materials utilized to complete these tasks.

  • Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.

  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Use provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.

  • Read, interpret, and apply instructions from schematics, approved data, and maintenance manuals.

  • Assist in ordering tools, parts, and material.

  • May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.

  • Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual information systems.

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.

  • Responsible for adhering to the Tool Control Program.

  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.

  • May be required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions when qualified and certified.

  • Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in classification.

  • Perform aircraft maintenance away from home field within the local area (50 miles) when authorized.

  • Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.

  • Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.

  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of government owned and company owned equipment.

  • Perform other related duties.

Qualification Standards:

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of documented hands-on general experience in aircraft avionics component maintenance and/or aircraft electrical system maintenance.

  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

  • Climbing, standing, stopping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions.

  • May require lifting of objects whose weight normally would not exceed 50 pounds.

  • The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little to no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc.

  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.

  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

Licensing / Certification Requirements:

  • Hazardous Materials Certification

  • CDQAR / CDI

  • GSE Licensing

  • Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1 series

  • Airfield Operations License

  • Valid State Operators License

  • The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on the current rate agreed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for this site.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the current per hour rate for this job.
