Expeditors Warehouse Manager in Milpitas, California

Scope of Position:

Manage all facets of the warehouse including but not limited to receiving, shipping, cargo screening, cross-dock and foreign-trade zone activity. Warehouse manager is expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, process management and employee development.

Responsibilities:

Facility Operations 

  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment

  • Maintain warehouse procedures and safety standards

  • Maintain a clean and professional facility

  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe operational condition 

  • Purchase and manage inventory of packaging materials and supplies

  • Prepare and manage budget for warehouse operations weekly/monthly/annually, includes staffing and overtime expenses, equipment procurement and maintenance, and facility repair

  • Constantly work with vendors to get the best procurement prices.

  • Maintain adherence to all regulatory compliance including TSA IACSSP, TSA CCSF  

  • Responsible for mandatory and recurrent training related to DG, CCSF and IACSSP  

Labor/Development Management

  • Ensure facilities are staffed to meet demand

  • Preform or oversee all aspects of warehouse staffing, includes permanent and contingent staff

  • Lead team in warehouse excellence

  • Ensure coverage of operations with staff who have the appropriate certifications 

  • Onboard newly hired staff

  • Direct employee versatility (cross training)

  • Monthly review of labor org chart based on account statistics to reduce headcount and cost when needed.

Operations and Quality

  • Oversee all receiving, shipping, container positioning, and inventory activities following operational standards (OPS) and KPI expectations

  • Improve safety, quality, delivery and cost through continuous improvement methods

  • Maintain compliance to all facility certification requirements and government policies

  • Participate in quoting, transitioning, and onboarding new customers

  • Manage, prevent, and resolve inventory, over/short/damage, process and customer exceptions

  • Review warehouse activities to ensure security and safety of people, facility, and freight

Skills/Experience

  • Schedule Flexibility

  • Management, team leadership, customer service, and account management

  • High proficiency in budgeting, profit and loss statements

  • Implementation of Security, Health & Safety requirements

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems & technology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in Expeditors process fundamental

  • Comfortable with statistics and analysis of productivity and KPI performance

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of industry specific qualification (country specific)

  • Proven leadership attitude and background

  • Strong market and product knowledge

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results

  • Proven negotiation skills

  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word)

  • The Expected Compensation $95,000 - $110,000, eligible for bonus
