Croda is seeking a Lead SHE Advisor to provide technical expertise for Croda's Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs to support operations, laboratory, and maintenance functions, including related construction projects.  This role will lead the development and implementation of SHE programs, policies, and procedures in support of the Lamar site goals.  The primary objectives are to support management of the site's environmental programs, protect and enhance the safety and health of employees and contractors, and achieve best-in-class SHE performance. Performs all duties within Croda's safety, health & environmental expectations.  All other duties as assigned by management.

Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures site compliance with local, state, federal, and Croda SHE and sustainability requirements by providing applicability determinations and associated immediate and long-term operations strategies to site management Proactively engages with site operations and construction teams to manage environmental permitting and compliance requirements by completing permitting and reporting deliverables (e.g., air quality construction/operation permit applications and compliance/emissions reports, EPCRA reports, NPDES permit applications and reports including spill response plans) on time and by corresponding with regulatory agencies Audits SHE programs and work processes, ensuring effective control of operations, maintenance, and contractor work, including compliance with regulations and established procedures Reviews and approves construction project SHE risk assessment plans, ensuring that regulatory compliance and Croda expectations are met Identifies existing and potential safety and health hazards in operations, maintenance, and construction activities with the authority and knowledge to take prompt corrective action to eliminate hazards Provides SHE expertise to site stakeholders through the site's safety committee team, site risk assessments including job hazard analyses (JHA), SHE management system aspect reviews, process safety hazard studies, management of change (MOC) and pre-startup safety reviews, and contractor safety reviews Develops and delivers engaging and impactful SHE training for existing employees/contractors as well as new employees Assists in the investigation of SHE-related incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions, tracking them to completion Prepares reports, maintains records, and reviews audit and SHE data to identify trends and risk issues that should be escalated for improvement Tracks and responds to SHE performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness and implement improvements to reduce occurrence of incidents and injuries Audits, reviews, and updates SHE-related procedures and processes including safe work permits, ensuring appropriate requirements are implemented Drives continual improvement in the Lamar site safety culture by engaging employees and contractors in active SHE involvement to demonstrate SHE as a value Arrange for industrial hygiene sampling as needed to meet compliance and verify plant baselines. Review data for recommendations for process improvement, personal protective equipment, and procedures, as necessary Supervises and provides training to the site security guards Reviews all security protocols and evaluates existing site security as needed Manage and oversee SHE related short- to medium-term projects on site. The projects can vary in length from 1 to 3 years depe ding on depth and complexity Assist in the completion of Corporate SHE reports and information requests All other duties will be assigned by management

Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or Science.  QEP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification a plus

Knowledge and Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of professional safety, health, and environmental experience. 3+ years must be within a manufacturing environment Technical/engineering and operational experience in a production environment Strong knowledge of, and practical experience with, interpreting and complying with local, state, and federal SHE regulations including air and water quality and EPCRA requirements Demonstrated ability to critically think and analyze SHE-related data, complete thorough SHE risk assessments including permit-to-work assessments, and promote a culture of injury/illness prevention

Skills and Abilities

Communication Skills: Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication and presentation skills

Computer Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with MS office products (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (SAP, etc.) and SHE and/or quality management system software (Intelex, etc.)

Other Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving skills Operate effectively with multiple tasks in a busy environment, meeting challenging deadlines A high level of initiative and motivation as well as being an enthusiastic team player

Physical Demands: Ability to walk, sit and/or stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day Must be able to move through production areas on uneven surfaces, climb ladders/stairs and be exposed to outside temperatures and weather Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
