Alene Candles IT Technician in Milford, New Hampshire

We are seeing an IT Technician to ensure a stable IT systems operation with minimal downtime, local and remote network and help desk support, while maintaining the highest level of personal integrity and trustworthiness when exposed to confidential or sensitive data and information.

Job Functions:

  • Conduct analyses and recommend resolution of complex issues affecting IT related areas.

  • Evaluate and recommend adoption of new or enhanced approaches to deliver IT services,

  • Test and optimize the functionality of systems, networks and data, identify and define technical requirements applied to the support, development, and implementation of systems and networks.

  • Ensure optimal use of commercially available products.

  • Prepare and present reports and documentation on IT related areas, setup client software, grant and maintain access rights, backup data, support client systems.

  • Understand and maintain telecommunication equipment, evaluate new hardware and software to meet company requirements.

  • Research and evaluate technologies to keep the Information Technology Department's knowledgebase of available solutions up to date.

  • Provide support for using and maintaining video surveillance system and entry access control system.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Information Technology Manager and the Network Administrator.

Abilities Needed for Success in the Role:

Strong knowledge of (or strong ability to perform tasks involving):

  • Computer, Printer, and Network hardware

  • Basic managed network switch administration

  • Microsoft Office 2016 and Office365 administration

  • Windows 7 - Windows 10 Operating Systems

  • WiFi Network infrastructure, WAP’s, and controller

  • Debug and error check general applications

  • Help desk ticket system

  • Network security policies and permissions

  • Group Policy definitions, configuration, and operation

  • VOIP phone administration

  • Security/Threat suites (Sophos/Mimecast)

  • Specific software, including:

  • Active Directory

  • DHCP and DNS systems

  • Exchange Mail (Office365)

Knowledge of (or ability to perform tasks involving):

  • Apple Operating Systems – MAC OS X 10.7 +

  • Interoperability of Apple and Windows OS’s and applications

  • Mobile device operating systems and application support

  • Meru and Meraki WiFi Networking system or similar

  • Juniper firewall system, port configuration, and usage reports

  • Data integrity, incremental backup systems and restoring capabilities (ShadowProtect/Clonezilla)

  • Database fundamentals (MS SQL Server)

Skills preferred, but not required:

  • SQL queries, common programming, and scripting languages.

Rate: $19-22/hours dependent on experience

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in MIS/IT related studies

  • 5 years of related experience

  • CompTIA certifications or equivalent

  • Must be available for scheduled occasional night and weekend work and/or be available for emergency technical support after hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Understand and communicate technical syntax, explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff, read and understand business flow procedure

  • Adhere to department standards and maintain those standards throughout the company, work with end users to understand complex issues

  • Strong ability to prioritize projects and tasks according to the business need, ability to learn new software and hardware packages, adapt to changes in technology, ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during the course of work

  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
