Brown-Forman Accounting Analyst in Milano, Italy

Meaningful Work From Day One

This role, based in Milano, has the primary responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records are in compliance with US GAAP, Local GAAP, and B-F internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, partnering closely with the business by providing advice on accounting and compliance matters and leading the implementation of new systems, special projects and accounting standards. This position will also support Regional Controllers in process improvements and ad hoc analysis for these markets.

Internally your title will be Accountant.

What You Can Expect

(A) Integrity of Financial Records

  • Responsible for ensuring timely accuracy of all financial records, including financial statements and general ledger data.

  • Provide daily accounting support including booking journal entries, ledger reconciliations, tax compliance and completing month end close.

  • Prepare account analysis, journal entry reviews and Blackline account reconciliations.

  • Partner with Italy business partners to proactively highlight and resolve any accounting issues and provide accounting support and guidance with a focus on communicating quantitative and qualitative information in a clear and accurate manner.

  • This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including month end closing, financial reporting, audit data preparation, preparation of tax declarations.

  • Assist with compliance of local taxation and other statutory requirements

  • Liaison with external auditors, consultants for VAT and compliance related work.

  • Manage the Material Ledger close & required entries during the monthly close

  • Managing Prepaid entries

  • Managing Fixed Asset entries

  • Posting all accruals needed for the month end close (Coupa Invoice, Concur T&E, etc.)

  • Clearing bank accounts & preparing the related reconciliations

  • Paying Taxes before their due dates (i.e Import VAT, Excise, Payroll Taxes, Local taxes, Environmental taxes etc)

(B) Analysis & Business Partnering

  • Assist Accounting Manager and key commercial partners in providing insightful, clear analysis of Italy operations including financial performance.

  • Partner with Corporate Tax, Legal, Treasury teams and accounting teams in other markets.

  • Supervise and control intercompany billing and accounting, in cooperation with the accounting department in the corporate office in the US. Responsible for raising and receiving quarterly MSA invoices

(C ) Internal Control and Process Improvement

  • Help to identify control gaps and assess effectiveness of internal controls by providing training on local policies and processes

  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve and streamline existing accounting processes to improve the quality of the financial data and reduce the time spent on recurring tasks

(E) Special Projects:

  • Manage multiple projects under tight time constraints.

  • Ad hoc requests related to functional or regional activities.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.

  • Fluency in English/ Italy.

  • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP platforms.

  • Experience using Google Sheets, Docs and Slides.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • High level of integrity and trust

What Makes You Unique

  • ACCA qualification / or being in the process

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and local tax regulations.

  • Experience in the FMCG or liquor industry.
