Amazon shipping offers Amazon’s delivery capabilities as a product and service. Amazon Shipping’s first customers are sellers in the EU, offering to ship their domestic volume using our delivery network.

Amazon Shipping is looking to hire a First Mile Manager to join the Operations Team in Italy. You will be a natural self-starter who is able to translate the long term vision for Amazon shipping into a strategic and tactical plan for Amazon Shipping and multiple EU Ops teams. This will require a true hands-on approach, solid stakeholder management skills, and excellent communication skills.

You will be part of the core team that will be building the Amazon Shipping Operations mid to long term strategy by working as a single threaded leader on both strategic and tactical special projects. You will help design and shape the IT SWA Ops strategy, engaging and influencing multiple stakeholders to build a shipping service provider which our customers love. You will have a true hands-on approach, understanding of operations, solid leadership skills and the ability to communicate and engage both internal and external stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ensure high First Mile performance and reliability by building strong relationships with cross-functional teams, establishing clear escalation paths, and fostering effective collaboration.

  • Monitor performance metrics, conduct regular reviews, and perform continuous improvement to exceed service standards while meeting operational cost targets.

  • Develop guidelines, implement data-driven optimization initiatives, and explore synergies with other programs to enhance pick-up services and pilot new solutions.

  • Drive technology development by bridging operational and tech teams, gathering feedback, and prioritizing issue resolution without disrupting operations.

  • Shape the inbound profile of Sortation Centers, considering constraints and capacities. - Manage local events (e.g., Olympics, holidays, sales) and partner with EU event planners for major events (Prime Day, Peak, etc.).

  • Offer frontline assistance, monitor KPIs, manage escalations and complaints, coordinate actions for top offending shippers, and collaborate with operations managers to resolve concerns.

  • Analyze customer feedback, collaborate across teams, and prioritize customer satisfaction and retention.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.

  • Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and SQL).

  • Familiarity with lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

  • Experience managing data and developing performance metrics.

  • Fluency in Italian and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in: Engineering, Operations, Logistics or related fields.

  • Experience in a leadership role within a high-volume logistics or transportation environment.

  • Expertise in network optimization and transportation management systems.

  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and implementing innovative solutions.

  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Experience leading and interacting with cross-functional teams.
