Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Principal Product Engineer Cadence Automotive Solutions (f/m/d) in Milan, Italy

The Principal Product Engineer will be part of the automotive team and will focus on functional safety aspects of the design/verification/implementation flow targeting safety critical applications and focusing, initially, on automotive. He/she will be part of a motivated and collaborative team that is shaping the direction and development of a holistic Design-For-Safety approach that integrates Functional Safety as part of the traditional EDA flow.

He/she will work with the safety organizations of our customers, external safety expert consultants and internal product development teams to ensure that the functional safety requirements are well understood and executed.

This role will be an integral part of an engineering team that focuses on bringing safety solutions per the ISO26262 and IEC61508 standards to Cadence customers in the fast growing Automotive/ADAS markets.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with R&D, product teams, and customers to define, develop and deploy a holistic functional safety solution

  • Analyze and capture customer requirements/plans/architecture for safety applications

  • Contribute to definition of requirements for safety applications and product development with particular focus on fault simulation for digital and analog mixed signals devices

  • Support Application Engineers on the Safety Flow and its use on customer projects

  • Develop scripts for supporting a design-for-safety holistic flow integrating tools in the design, verification and implementation space

  • Collaborate with product engineers, marketing & development team, safety consultants, vendors and customers on Functional Safety activities

  • Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development

  • Travel: Occasional travel, including international travel, might be required.

Requirements:

  • BSEE/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering. MS preferred

  • 5+ or more years of total relevant work experience

  • Working experience with ASIC design methodologies, and usage of EDA products. Experienced in functional verification and fault simulation

  • Expert knowledge of Functional Safety concepts and the ISO26262, IEC61508 standards

  • Direct experience in functional safety analysis (FMEA/FMEDA) and compliance, testing or auditing or QA (quality assurance) of embedded HW/SW systems

  • Willingness and motivation to learn and apply standard compliance requirements of emerging markets

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear, concise documentation writing skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers and partners.

  • Ability/Interest to work/collaborate in a cross-disciplinary environment

Good To Have:

  • Proven record of taking customer safety requirements from concept to final product

  • Familiarity with other industry-accepted safety and quality standards

  • Experienced with GitHub, Perforce, JIRA
