Juniata County Conservation District Resource Conservation Technician - Agricultural Technician - Nutrient Management/ Grant Writing in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania

The Juniata County Conservation District is seeking qualified candidates for a Resource Conservation Technician. This position will work with the District's Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP), Chapter 92 (NPDES) Programs, and Nutrient Management Program (ACT-38), and Grant Writing to support best management practices as well as, assist with other District Programs as needed. The position requires a 40-hour work week.

The individual chosen for this position is responsible for fulfilling the District's obligations under the ACAP Delegation Agreement with PA State Conservation Commission, obligations under the Act-38 Nutrient Management Program Delegation Agreement with PA State Conservation Commission., as well as any obligations listed under grants.

Duties include, but are not limited to: working with local farming community to administer the ACAP program and additional grant writing opportunities, which includes program grant administration, project management and oversight, program reporting in GIS and PracticeKeeper. Additional duties include acquiring certification in the Act-38 program and have the ability to review Act-38 Nutrient Management Plans and perform farm status reviews on animal operations within Juniata County.

The position is responsible for complaint investigations under both Delegation Agreements, understanding and interpreting pertinent agricultural regulations to the local agricultural and non-agricultural communities, maintaining files and preparing progress reports, and assisting with other District related programs, education, and training activities.

The individual chosen for this position will hold a Bachelor's degree with major course emphasis in Environmental Resource Management, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, or other related area of study or equivalent experience. The individual will be computer literate with Microsoft Office and GIS software, possess a valid driver's license and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, have the ability to work independently and traverse difficult terrain.

The Resource Conservation Technician starting salary will range from $40,000/year - $42,500+/year based on experience and education. The Juniata County Conservation District offers a competitive benefit package including paid holidays, health/vision/dental/life insurance, a contributory retirement plan, vacation, sick and personal leave. Hours of employment are Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., with some weekend/evening hours required.
