Denali Universal Services (DUS) Security Operation Center Technician (Over $50k/yr): ConocoPhillips Complex Midland in Midland, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The Security Operation Center (SOC) is located within the ConocoPhillips Building Complex in Midland, TX and is staffed 24 hours/day 7 days/week. The SOC is a highly technical work environment that uses video monitoring equipment, computers, access control systems, specialized hardware/software, and radio/telephone/IP communications equipment.

With supervision from the SOC Supervisor and input from the COP L48 Security team, the SOC Security Officer is responsible for monitoring camera, alarm, and access control systems, for multiple sites. The SOC security officer is a key contributor to the security operations team in the event of a crisis/emergency that would threaten the safe and secure business operations. This could include, but is not limited to natural disasters, equipment malfunction, workplace violence, facility/field emergencies, burglary, fire, and issues with serious injury or illness.

Work Schedule: Rotational: - 1 week on/1 week off (12-hour shifts)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Previous experience with a municipal, state or federal law enforcement agency, private security company, military police unit, or corrections, within the past seven (7) years. With at least one (1) year of SOC or IT Security field experience, or equivalent experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, external agencies, and the general public in a professional and effective manner.

  • Proficiency in electronic security management applications; including Microsoft Office, Video, Access Control, and Alarm Management.

  • Ability to be licensed as an Unarmed Security Officer in accordance with the laws and regulations of the state of Texas.

  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently.

  • Maturity of judgement, quick thinking, and team player.

  • Upon hire, must complete the SOC training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand and comply with all company/client safety, security and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures. Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills in formal and informal settings.

  • Monitor and operate access control systems including managing card readers, doors and gates, event logs, and generating reports.

  • Monitor regional wide alarm/event management including but not limited to access control, intrusion detection, doors, gates, fences, and power failure.

  • Operate a variety of communication systems including but not limited to telephones, public address (PA), and radios. Must be able to speak clearly and concisely while providing information and instructions during an emergency.

  • Monitor and operate Video Management system.

  • Operate access/cardholder management system (CMS) to include creating badges for employees, visitors and vendors/contractors, and management of temporary badges and badge audits.

  • May require professional interaction with outside agencies including state and federal government, law enforcement, military, and fire departments.

  • Handle security issues or emergency situations appropriately, timely, and effectively under stressful conditions.

  • Escalate situations to appropriate parties in the SOC or field, and file incident reports.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the client’s local and field security operations.

  • Maintain information security with confidentiality.

  • Produce thorough and detailed written reports in a timely manner.

  • Serve as an unarmed Security Officer as needed.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.

  • Willingness to perform other duties as required.

  • Must be able to pass the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen, criminal background investigation and post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation (if applicable for the position).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. Will be required to work rotating shift (day and night), weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work requires routine sitting, walking, standing and bending. Occasionally lift or carry items up to 25 pounds. Applicants will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
