TE Connectivity Sr. Manufacturing Engineer in Middletown, Pennsylvania

Job Duties: As a member of TE's Automation Manufacturing Technology Engineering Team, act as a process leader for the development and application of automation control platforms. These efforts aim to enhance product manufacturing, resulting in increased revenue, savings, safety, and other benefits for Business Units. The automation development process includes programming robotic manipulation systems and mechanical models driven electrically. It also involves developing software to prove concepts, designing electrical safety systems, and utilizing mathematical formulas to calculate performance parameters and optimize systems based on analysis results. Be recognized as an expert in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, with extensive knowledge of associated manufacturing processes. This may include optimizing and standardizing processes such as stamping, molding, and assembly within the manufacturing environment. Interface with customers to gather their requirements and ensure that innovations meet business needs. Actively search for new automation system requisitions, apply project management skills, utilize the stage-gate process, and communicate project requirements and statuses with customers. Develop, model, and use design tools, ensuring proof of concept with computer-aided design software such as PTC Creo. Develop mechanical CAD models to verify mechanical concepts and simulate 3D CAD operations. Conduct creative automation concept designs and propose options to customers. Develop and apply focused technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, vision guidance, and inspection to integrate innovative solutions. Create intellectual property (IP) to innovate and strengthen TE's IP strategies and portfolios in automation manufacturing technology. Act as a leader between engineering and production to ensure the manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp-up. Support research and development teams in producing sample manufacturing equipment, product samples, and prototypes. Enable TE business unit plants to meet TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's), and advise plants on tool and machine duplications, corrections, and improvements. Design and develop manufacturing processes and automation platforms, applying them for the realization of new product developments as well as the optimization of existing products already in production. Requires 20% domestic travel.            

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.          

Special Requirements:  Requires 5 years of experience with the following:

  1. Developing automation concepts to solve manufacturing challenges in TE Connectivity factories.
  2. Designing electrical and control systems in CAD and/or PLC/HMI software.
  3. Designing mechanical concepts in CAD software.
  4. Developing, troubleshooting, maintaining and/or improving the software applications such as Graphic User's Interface.
  5. Designing, building, and validating rule-based and/or Artificial Intelligence based computer vision inspection applications.
  6. Designing and building systems architecture to integrate the different mechanical, electrical and software elements of an automated manufacturing process.
