Wesleyan University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a part-time Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning September 1, 2024. The visitor will be the instructor of one to two sections of the sophomore-level laboratory course: Intermediate Chemistry Laboratory ( CHEM 257) during the Fall Semester and one to two sections of the sophomore-level laboratory course Organic Chemistry Laboratory ( CHEM 258) during the Spring Semester. While the curriculum and administration of these courses will be managed by full-time faculty, the instructor of these sections will be expected to actively and independently engage with their students to facilitate their learning. Scheduling will be flexible, with evening options available for one or both sections. Special consideration will be given to candidates with previous experience in teaching comparable laboratory courses and expertise with a variety of standard laboratory instrumentation. The initial appointment will be for one year and is renewable for a second year based on performance.
